We welcome you to Galactic Art Glass Studio, located in Milton, Ontario at the base of the Niagara Escarpment. The fine Canadian hand blown glass that Virginia and Tony make has our personal commitment to quality. We melt only the finest lead free crystal we have found for use in the creation of all of our work. We have no employes and this is not a factory. The batch we melt, (sand mixture) is called first melt crystal. The result is a beautiful colorless, mostly bubble free material that is responsible for the superior sparkle and transmission of light. This ensures the highest possible quality in all our product that has been combined with compatible colored glass. No recycled tinted clear glass or cullet in any form is considered for use in any manner.
Our art glass can be purchased here in our showroom and select galleries. We specialize in ancient Venetian Art Glass techniques developed approximately 1500 A.D. We make glass look like fabric using hundreds of threads of coloured glass combined with glass ribbon canes and or new space age reflective glass to produce unique works in glass. We hope our web site can help enlighten you on the process we are so passionate about. Learn more about Filigree Glass here.
We are open by chance or appointment, or check for holiday hours. Call, come by and enjoy a personal and unique shopping experience.
Thank you for supporting fine Canadian Hand Made Art Glass.
"I feel a magical connection to the entire process of glassblowing. The substance itself, a kind of primordial, slow-moving liquid, capable of being formed and molded with the breath of life, inspires in me a wellspring of creative energy." The feeling I get when I fully immerse myself in the making of an object is one of total peace and serenity. Thoughts of other worldly issues disappear. For the moment we are joined as one , it is like meditation or a state of complete integration with my creative energy, a time when little else matters.
Melting crystal @ 2400 F gives me a feeling of great anticipation . The malleability of the substance and the way it reacts with different colors, temperatures, motion and gravity, leads me to believe that anything is possible in glass as long as you have a good command of the process. This truth is very exciting to me and my mind explodes with possibilities and
creative thoughts. Knowing the immortal qualities of the product leaves me extremely satisfied that the world will be left by us a more beautiful place through colored glass threads embedded in crystal.
